No one is in charge of the Internet. There are organizations which develop technical aspects of this network and set standards for creating applications on it, but no governing body is in control. The Internet backbone, through which Internet traffic flows, is owned by private companies.

AMD’s Dual GPU Radeon HD 5970 is Fastest Ever

AMD today announced the ATI Radeon HD 5970, which it calls the fastest card ever created thanks to pairing two HD 5870 GPUs together. The ATI Radeon HD 5970 graphics card delivers nearly 5 TeraFLOPS of compute power. Grab two of them together in CrossFireX and you’re looking at nearly 10 TeraFLOPS.

Hackers Makes Modern Warfare 2 Ded. Server?

When news came that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would come without dedicated servers for the PC version, gamers were upset and disappointed at the removal of one of the advantages of the PC platform.

Some PC gamers even decided to boycott the game. Of course, that didn’t seem to hurt sales too much as Modern Warfare 2 went on to become the fastest selling game in history. Clearly Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 gamers weren’t fazed by what was happening on the PC front.

Microsoft Now Recruiting for Windows 8

CodenameWindows discovered that Microsoft was recruiting new software engineers for Windows 8. The job listing, originally listed here, now shows that the job is no longer available. However, it revealed that Microsoft sought out new recruits for the planning and preparation of the Windows Update Client for Windows 8.
